Cracking the Code: “Tegan and Sara, e.g.”
This week’s crossword puzzle threw a real curveball at me. I was cruising through the clues, filling in squares with confidence, when I hit a wall. The clue: “Tegan and Sara, e.g.”
My brain froze. What could it be? My first instinct was to think about musical duos, but that seemed too obvious. I started to panic, convinced I was missing some obscure pop culture reference. I even considered pulling out my dictionary, hoping some obscure word would unlock the answer.
After a few minutes of frustrated pacing, I decided to take a step back and analyze the clue. “Tegan and Sara, e.g.” What did that “e.g.” really mean? It signified an example, a representative of a larger category. But what category?
As I pondered, a realization dawned on me. This wasn’t about the specific names Tegan and Sara, but rather the
relationship
they shared. Suddenly, the clue clicked into place.
This week’s crossword clue is a prime example of how a seemingly simple clue can actually be quite challenging. It requires you to think beyond the obvious and consider the context of the clue.
