Mardi Gras VIP: A Crossword Conundrum

This week’s crossword puzzle threw me for a loop! I was cruising through the clues, feeling confident, until I hit a brick wall. A seemingly simple clue, but the answer just wouldn’t come to me. It was a classic case of “knowing it, but not being able to remember it.”

The clue was:

“Mardi Gras VIP.”

Easy, right? I mean, we’re talking about the biggest party of the year! But the answer needed to be a word, not just a general description. My brain went into overdrive, conjuring up images of beads, masks, and the vibrant colors of New Orleans.

I tried every synonym for “VIP” I could think of, but nothing clicked. I even started brainstorming potential anagrams, hoping for a stroke of luck.

Frustrated, I decided to take a break and clear my head. Maybe a walk around the block would do the trick. But even with a fresh perspective, the answer remained elusive.

Finally, I turned to my trusty crossword dictionary. This time, I had a breakthrough! The answer was right there, staring me in the face.

It turns out the key to solving this clue was thinking outside the box. It wasn’t about the literal meaning of “VIP,” but rather about a specific role during Mardi Gras.
